St. Xavier's School Brings Laurels to Tripura
St. Xavier's Hr. Sec. School Pathaliaghat once again made the state of Tripura proud by winning Third Prize in the National School Band Competition Under Girl's Brass Band Category held from 21-22 January 2024 ,at Dhyan Chand stadium in New Delhi. 457 participants from 16 schools across India took part in the grand finale of the National School Band Competition. The competition was held under two categories ( Brass Band for both Boys and Girls and Pipe Band for both Boys and Girls).
St. Xavier's School band represented the state of Tripura in the competition.
The school team consisted of 25 girls aged between 11-17 who hail from different villages of Tripura. The school band is only 8 months old and the students have proved themselves capable of achieving greater results through mere hard work and dedication. Fr. Babu Stephen, the principal along with three other teachers led the school team to Delhi on 15th January by train.
The first day's event began at 10:30 am in which 8 schools showcased their skills in playing band instruments with lots of dances and vibrant steps. On the second day that is on 22nd the rest of the 8 schools showcased their skills and kept everyone spellbound and mesmerized.
Our school was the second last team to put up the show and took everyone by surprise with their talent in playing the band instruments. A six member Jury from the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air force judged the competition for two days.
The criteria for judgement consisted of Dress and Instruments, Marches both Quick and slow, Formation, Standard of playing and Quality of Tunes, Presentation, Timely completion of performance.
Immediately after the competition, the results were announced and St. Xavier's School bagged Third Prize in the Girl's Brass Band Category. The school team once again brought laurels to the state of Tripura by winning this prestigious prize in the National School Band Competition.
