CLASS XII STUDY TOUR TO SHILLONG 2025
The Class XII students of St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat undertook a six-day Study Tour to Guwahati and Shillong from 29th November to 4th December 2025. A total of 45 boys and girls participated in this enriching experience, accompanied by Fr. Babu Stephen and Ms. Ishri Jamatia. The tour offered the students meaningful learning, exposure and unforgettable memories. The group departed from Agartala on 29th November and arrived in Guwahati on the morning of 30th November. Accommodation was arranged at Don Bosco Provincial House and the CRI House, Guwahati. After settling in, the students proceeded to Fancy Bazar for marketing and enjoyed exploring the lively local market. They later experienced the thrilling Guwahati Ropeway ride, which offered magnificent views of the city and the majestic Brahmaputra River. A ferry ride across the Brahmaputra enhanced the adventure of the day. The team had their delicious meals at Ananda Hotel, adding comfort and satisfaction to the experience. On 1st December, the group left Guwahati in the early hours by five Sumos and reached St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School, Shillong at 7:30 am. They were warmly welcomed by Fr. Anthony Kharkongor, the Principal, who offered special snacks and tea and extended a warm welcome to the team during the school assembly. After breakfast, the students commenced a full-day Shillong city tour, covering important and scenic locations such as the Cathedral Church, Don Bosco Technical School, Don Bosco Museum, Golflink, Ward’s Lake and the Smit viewpoint. After dinner, they enjoyed a brief evening visit to Laitumkhrah, experiencing its vibrant setting. The day's programme was well-coordinated with the support of Bro. Augustine and Bro. Savio. Appreciation is also extended to Mr. Shashi, the driver, and others who contributed to the smooth conduct of the day. On 2nd December, the team set out for Sohra at 6:30 am for a full-day excursion. The students visited Nongkalikhai Falls, Mawsmai Cave, Arwah Cave, the Don Bosco Shrine in Sohra, and several other tourist spots. The breathtaking landscapes, caves and viewpoints made the Sohra trip one of the most memorable parts of the tour. On returning to Shillong, the group visited Ward’s Lake once again and then proceeded for their final round of marketing at Police Bazar. The entire day was a fantastic experience, filled with joy, exploration and learning. The students immensely enjoyed every part of the tour. For many, it was a golden opportunity to visit Shillong, Sohra and several important places across Meghalaya. Beautiful moments were captured by the students throughout the trip. We would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Fr. Anthony Kharkongor, Principal of St. Anthony’s School, Fr. Aibor Nongsiej, Fr. Philip Barjo, the brothers, the support staff and Mr. Shashi, the bus driver, for making all arrangements for our comfortable stay in Shillong and for their generous hospitality and support. The six-day Study Tour concluded successfully, offering the students knowledge, exposure and cherished memories that will remain with them for life. Special gratitude goes to Fr.
