MARATHON RACE 2024

As part of the preparations for the upcoming Sports Week, St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, successfully organized its Annual Marathon Race on 16th November. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from 800 students across Classes 1 to 12, reflecting the school's vibrant sports culture.

The event commenced with a prayer and words of welcome by Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, setting an uplifting tone for the day. Fr. K.K. Joseph SDB delivered an encouraging message to the participants before flagging off the marathon at 6:30 am. The students covered a challenging yet exhilarating 6-kilometer course, showcasing exceptional determination and teamwork.

After an intense and spirited competition, the following champions emerged victorious in their respective categories:

  • Senior Boys: Lazakima (Bosco House)
  • Senior Girls: Jesmi Tripura (Gandhi House)
  • Intermediate Boys: Swmai (Gandhi House)
  • Intermediate Girls: Barbi Jamatia (Teresa House)
  • Junior Boys: Jihan (Gandhi House)
  • Junior Girls: Karuna (Teresa House)

The winners were honored with medals and certificates presented by Fr. K.A. Thomas SDB, who lauded their dedication and perseverance. A delightful display of karate skills by the students added to the excitement and showcased their multifaceted talents.

The event concluded with refreshments distributed to all participants, fostering a sense of unity and celebration. Mr. Shanti Debbarma, the Sports Secretary, was commended for his excellent organization and seamless execution of the race.

In his closing remarks, Fr. Babu Stephen SDB expressed gratitude to the staff and students for their unwavering support and enthusiasm, which made the event a grand success. The marathon not only highlighted the athletic abilities of the students but also reinforced the values of hard work, discipline, and teamwork, setting the stage for a spirited Sports Week ahead.
