On the auspicious occasion of the Feast of St. Mary Domenica Mazzarello and Our Lady of Fatima, a significant event took place at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat — the inauguration and blessing of a newly constructed road within the school campus, dedicated in honour of Rev. Fr. K.J. Joseph SDB, the pioneer of the Salesian mission in Pathaliaghat. The event began at 10:00 am with a solemn gathering of the school community, which included Fr. K.K. Joseph SDB, the Rector of the institution, Fr. Babu, the Principal, the Salesian brothers, sisters, teachers, and the students of Classes X and XII. Fr. Babu opened the ceremony by fondly recalling the legacy and selfless service of Fr. K.J. Joseph, who laid the foundation of the Salesian presence in this remote mission. He offered prayers for the repose of his soul, setting a tone of reverence and gratitude. The new road, beautifully adorned with colourful flags and balloons, created an atmosphere of joy and celebration. The vibrant decorations added to the festive spirit of the day and highlighted the importance of the occasion. Following the prayer service, Fr. K.K. Joseph SDB, the Rector, blessed and inaugurated the new avenue, officially dedicating it to the memory of Fr. K.J. Joseph SDB. In his address, he expressed deep appreciation to Fr. Babu for his thoughtful initiative and foresight in taking up this project for the welfare of the students and the beautification of the campus. The inauguration was more than a ceremonial event — it was a heartfelt tribute to a man whose vision and missionary zeal continue to inspire the present generation. The newly inaugurated road now stands not only as a physical structure but also as a lasting symbol of dedication, sacrifice, and progress rooted in the values Fr. K.J. Joseph upheld throughout his life. The event concluded with a sense of pride and gratitude among the participants, marking it as a memorable day in the history of St. Xavier’s Pathaliaghat.
