St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, joyfully observed World Environment Day on 5th June 2025 with great enthusiasm and purpose. The celebration was marked with a strong message of environmental awareness and collective action to combat pollution and protect our common home — Mother Earth. The day began with a motivational and thought-provoking address by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Babu Stephen, who reminded the entire school community of the vital importance of this global observance. In his message, he beautifully emphasized the urgent need to preserve and protect the environment, highlighting how small acts of care and responsibility can lead to a significant impact on our planet. His words instilled a deep sense of duty and inspiration among both staff and students. Following the assembly, the school came alive with various activities organized to mark the occasion. Classes I to IV participated in a Cleanliness Drive both in and around the school campus under the guidance of their teachers. With brooms and bags in hand, the little ones enthusiastically cleaned their classrooms, corridors, gardens, and nearby areas. Their spirited involvement symbolized the beginning of responsible citizenship and the value of keeping our surroundings clean. Simultaneously, students of Classes V to XII conducted a grand Environmental Awareness Rally. Divided into groups, the students marched through different directions of Pathaliaghat town, holding colourful placards, artistic posters, and thoughtful slogans promoting the theme of the day — “Say No to Plastic, Yes to a Green Future.” Their chants and messages focused on reducing plastic use, conserving nature, and fighting pollution. The paintings and slogans, prepared by students themselves, added vibrancy and meaning to the rally. The rally drew the attention of the entire locality. Local residents came out in large numbers, moved and motivated by the creativity and sincerity of the students. Many paused to read the placards, appreciate the posters, and even interacted with the participants to learn more about the significance of the day. The celebration concluded with a reflection session in the school premises, where students shared their experiences and insights gained from the day’s activities. Teachers and staff, too, praised the active involvement and sense of responsibility displayed by the young minds. Overall, the World Environment Day Celebration at St. Xavier’s School, Pathaliaghat was a grand success, leaving a powerful message on environmental stewardship in the hearts of all. It was a perfect blend of education, action, and awareness — a step forward in building a greener and cleaner tomorrow. “Let us nurture nature, so that nature can nurture us.”
