CAREER GUIDANCE TRAINING FOR TEACHERS

A two-day Teachers’ Training on Career Guidance for Don Bosco Schools of Tripura was organized on 29th and 30th August 2025 at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat. The programme was coordinated by Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, Principal of St. Xavier’s Hr. Sec. School, on behalf of the Don Bosco Schools of Tripura. The training was enriched by eminent resource persons: Fr. Gabriel Karunaraj SDB, National Director, Don Bosco Job Placement Network, India, Fr. Joseph D’Souza Kamalesh SDB, Professor, Department of English, Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur and Mr. Sebi Chacko, Regional Coordinator, AIDA–Don Bosco Job Placement Network, Dimapur. A total of 80 teachers from 8 Don Bosco Schools across Tripura attended this conference-cum-training. The programme began on 29th August with a short welcome ceremony. Students, along with Fr. Babu, extended a warm reception to the resource persons and participants by presenting badges, Risa and bouquets of flowers. Over the two days, the sessions were filled with valuable inputs, interactive discussions, and personal sharing. The resource persons guided the participants to understand:The concept and importance of Career Guidance for school and college youth, The various schemes, opportunities, and pathways available in higher education and employment,The nature and functioning of universities, Issues related to youth employment, job placements, and challenges in the current job market. The sessions also included data analysis, case studies, and group interactions that helped teachers grasp the practical aspects of career guidance. The use of systematic handouts, PowerPoint presentations, and interactive methodologies made the training effective and engaging. Teachers appreciated the expertise, clarity, and practical knowledge of the resource persons. Their methodology of combining theoretical knowledge with real-life experiences made the programme highly relevant and meaningful for the Tripura region. The conducive hall setting and the collaborative atmosphere added to the success of the training. At the conclusion of the programme, Ms. Priyanka Debbarma expressed words of gratitude on behalf of the participants, thanking the resource persons and organizers for the enriching experience. Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, in the name of the Salesian Province of Shillong and the Don Bosco Schools of Tripura, extended heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to the successful conduct of this training. The training session concluded on 30th August with lunch. The two-day event proved to be a fruitful and transformative learning experience, equipping teachers to guide students more effectively in their career and life choices.
