The 10th Agartala Diocese Youth Convention, held on the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”, was celebrated with great zeal and spiritual depth from 2nd to 5th October at St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat under Bishramganj Parish. Organized by the Agartala Diocese Youth Commission under the dynamic guidance of Fr. Lawrence Darlong and Fr. Derrick Augustin, the convention witnessed the vibrant participation of 1300 youth from 25 parishes, truly embodying the spirit of young pilgrims journeying together in faith and hope. The convention commenced on 2nd October with a meaningful and solemn opening ceremony. The Convention Flag was hoisted by Rt. Rev. Lumen Monteiro CSC, Bishop of Agartala, along with Fr. Babu Stephen SDB, Principal of St. Xavier’s School, Pathaliaghat, in the presence of priests, religious, youth leaders, and the enthusiastic participants. A touching symbolic moment took place as lighted lamps were released into the sky by the dignitaries and youth representatives, beautifully reflecting the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”—youth carrying the light of Christ into the world. Messages delivered by Bishop Lumen Monteiro, Fr. Babu Stephen, and Ms. Dolly Reang set a hopeful and inspiring tone for the days ahead, calling the youth to be bearers and witnesses of hope. The following days were filled with input sessions on youth life, faith, and mission, group discussions, and sharing circles, enabling the young people to deepen their identity as pilgrims of hope in today’s challenging world. Faith formation was strengthened through daily Rosary, Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and the Holy Mass celebrated by various priests. The liturgy was made profoundly meaningful by the soulful choir animations from different parishes. To nurture a spirit of joyful participation and learning, activities such as the Bible Quiz and Homily Preaching Competition were conducted. These competitions provided a platform for the youth to express their talents while growing in Scripture knowledge and confidence in sharing the Word of God—hallmarks of true pilgrims of hope. One of the most memorable moments of the convention was the special appearance of Mr. Pradyut Kishore Manikya, the Maharaja of Tripura. His heartfelt message deeply resonated with the youth, inspiring them to live with dignity, faith, and hope, in keeping with the spirit of the theme. The convention concluded on 5th October with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Lumen Monteiro and concelebrated by several priests. The event was a grace-filled journey of faith, fellowship, and hope, leaving a lasting impact on all participants. The meticulous planning and professional execution by Fr. Lawrence Darlong and his organizing team earned great appreciation. The well-prepared venue and prayerful ambience of St. Xavier’s School, Pathaliaghat, greatly enhanced the experience, helping the youth truly live the theme “Pilgrims of Hope” throughout the convention. The Agartala Diocese Youth Commission expressed heartfelt gratitude to all priests, religious, volunteers, benefactors, and collaborators who made this event a memorable and spirit-filled success.
