A Tobacco Free Institution Programme was held at St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, on 7th November 2025 in the school’s conference hall. The programme was organized by the Bishramganj Primary Health Centre (PHC), Sepahijala District, Tripura, as part of the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP). The session was attended by the students of Class XII along with members of the school staff. The officials from the Health Department conducted the programme and spoke at length about the ill effects of tobacco consumption, highlighting both the physical and social consequences associated with its use. The main aim of the campaign was to create awareness among students and staff and to make the institution a Tobacco-Free Campus. Through informative talks, visuals, and slide presentations, the speakers effectively explained the dangers of tobacco use and the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The interactive nature of the session allowed students and staff to ask several questions, which were answered in detail by the officials. The participants showed keen interest and enthusiasm throughout the programme. The officials appreciated the positive response and active participation of the students and urged the school management to continue follow-up activities to reinforce the message of a tobacco-free environment. At the end of the session, the students took a resolution to spread awareness among their peers, families, and communities about the harmful effects of tobacco and to encourage others to stay away from it. The school management expressed sincere gratitude to the officials from Bishramganj PHC for their valuable time and commitment towards the welfare of the youth. The programme proved to be highly educative, inspiring, and beneficial for both students and staff, reaffirming the school’s commitment to nurturing a healthy and tobacco-free generation.
