The Annual Book Fair 2026 was organized at St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat from 21st to 23rd May 2026 in collaboration with Scholastic. The three-day event turned the school hall into a vibrant centre of learning and reading, attracting students, staff, and parents alike. The book fair was formally inaugurated by Fr. Babu Stephen in the presence of the staff and students. In his inaugural address, he highlighted the importance of cultivating the habit of reading among young people and encouraged everyone to make books their lifelong companions. He appreciated the efforts taken by the school and the organizers in bringing a wide collection of books for the benefit of the school community. A large variety of books belonging to different categories such as story books, literature, science, general knowledge, spirituality, biographies, academic references, children’s books, and motivational writings were displayed during the fair. The students had a wonderful opportunity to go through the rich collection of books and many of them purchased books according to their taste and interest. The school encouraged both staff and students to spend quality time at the exhibition hall in order to develop a deeper interest in reading and learning. Parents of the lower classes also visited the fair enthusiastically and bought books for their children. Students were taken to the book fair class by class in an orderly manner so that everyone could benefit from the experience. Some students of Class XII volunteered during the programme and rendered valuable assistance in organizing and managing the fair smoothly. Their dedication and sense of responsibility contributed greatly to the success of the event. One of the special features of the programme was the noble initiative whereby every student sponsored two books to the school library as a gift. This generous contribution will enrich the school library and benefit future readers. The school organizes such educational and enriching events every year for the benefit of the students and staff. The fair witnessed a good sale of books and received an overwhelming response from all sections of the school community. The programme concluded with heartfelt gratitude to Scholastic for organizing the wonderful exhibition and to the school management for providing such meaningful opportunities that inspire students to develop the habit of reading and lifelong learning.
