St. Xavier's Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, celebrated World Environment Day on 10th June 2026 with great enthusiasm and a strong commitment towards environmental conservation and cleanliness. The day-long programme witnessed the active participation of students, teachers, and members of the local community. The celebration commenced in the morning with a tree plantation drive within and around the school campus. The Principal, teachers, and selected students of Class XII planted saplings as a symbolic gesture of their commitment to protecting nature. Altogether, nearly 100 trees were planted in and outside the school premises. In a remarkable community initiative, several saplings were also planted along the National Highway with the support and cooperation of local police personnel. Following the plantation programme, students of different classes, accompanied by their respective class teachers, undertook an extensive cleanliness drive. The students cleaned their classrooms, the school campus, village roads, and various public places in the surrounding areas. The massive cleanliness campaign reflected the school's dedication to promoting environmental awareness and civic responsibility among young people. Adding further beauty and greenery to the surroundings, students brought plants of their own choice and planted them both inside and outside the school campus. Their enthusiastic participation demonstrated their love for nature and their willingness to contribute to a greener environment. In the afternoon, students from Classes V to XII, along with their teachers, organized an awareness rally carrying banners, placards, and slogans advocating environmental protection. The rally covered a distance of nearly three kilometres and passed through various locations in the village. Through their messages and slogans, the students encouraged villagers to adopt eco-friendly practices and take responsibility for preserving the environment. The celebration proved to be a meaningful and impactful event, fostering environmental consciousness among students and the local community alike. The school extends its sincere gratitude to all the teachers, student volunteers, police personnel, and community members whose dedicated efforts and cooperation made the programme a grand success.
