St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Pathaliaghat, organized a Spelling Bee Competition for Classes I–IV on 18th August 2026, with the aim of developing students’ vocabulary, spelling skills, confidence and interest in the English language. The competition was coordinated by the respective class teachers with enthusiastic participation from the primary students. The competition began with a preliminary round, which was conducted by the class teachers in their respective classrooms. Based on the performance of the students, the best five students from each section were shortlisted for the final round. The final round was held on the morning of 18th August at a specially arranged venue in the school. The selected participants from Classes I–IV were seated in an organized manner and competed with great enthusiasm. The final round was coordinated by Sr. Yonaris, Sr. Kyrkhulang, Bro. Savio, Ms. Mary, Ms. Patalti and other teachers, who conducted the competition smoothly and encouraged the young participants throughout the event. The atmosphere was lively as the audience cheered for the contestants and encouraged them with enthusiastic applause. The students displayed remarkable concentration, confidence and knowledge as they attempted the challenging words. The competition provided them with a valuable opportunity to learn new words, improve their spelling and overcome stage fear. At the conclusion of the programme, Fr. Babu Stephen, the Principal, congratulated the winners and appreciated all the participants for their active involvement. He also thanked the teachers and coordinators for their dedication and for making the event a resounding success. The winners were honoured with medals and certificates, which were presented by the Principal. The Spelling Bee proved to be a meaningful and enjoyable learning experience for the primary students. They participated with great excitement and enthusiasm, making the competition both educational and entertaining. The event successfully fostered healthy competition, confidence and a love for learning among the young learners.
